Barnabas Patient Voices is the patient group for Barnabas Medical Centre in Northolt, west London.
As a patient of Barnabas Medical Centre we hope you will be interested in joining Barnabas Patient Voices. Our main aims are to :
- facilitate communication between patients and the Practice, and build good relationships with all who work at the Practice
- offer a patient’s view on the services provided by the Practice and the NHS generally
- help the Practice and patients develop and improve overall healthcare
Barnabas Patient Voices is run by patients for patients and is required of the Practice under its contract with the NHS.
Note that until September 2021 the group was known as the Patient Participation Group (PPG).
Do you want to be more involved in what we do?
Members of Barnabas Patient Voices are very welcome to attend our meetings, normally held every 2 months. We are relaxed and friendly at the meetings but aim to be focussed and finish within 90 minutes. The Practice Manager normally attends our meetings, and we like to have one of the GPs or nurses at the meeting as well.
We discuss:
- Matters of interest to patients, eg. the appointment system, patient surveys
- Services offered by the Practice, eg. phlebotomy (blood tests)
- Proposed, and requested service developments
- Services offered by other healthcare providers, eg. local hospitals
We assist the Practice by, for example:
- Making comments and suggestions on improving the way the Practice interacts with
patients - Reviewing what is happening in the NHS and its impact on patients
- Advising on proposed changes and enhancements to the Practice’s services
- Conducting patient surveys
- Talking to patients to help with understanding of the work of both the Practice and NHS
We publish:
- The Practice’s quarterly newsletter, Barnabas Bulletin
- Minutes of our meetings
- A monthly update for members
- Occasional leaflets of useful information for all patients
- Information from various parts of the NHS organisation
- Feedback from other NHS events and committees and meetings which we attend
- Information from the National Association of Patient Participation and the Patients Association
In addition, this page is provided as an information resource, primarily for patients, carers of patients, prospective patients, and staff of Barnabas Medical Centre.
Do you just want to be kept updated on what we’re doing?
You can join as a member and receive the minutes of our meetings, monthly updates and other information about the Practice or the NHS.
However, if you do have an hour or so to spare every other month you will be able to actively participate in working with the Practice to reflect patients’ concerns and be better informed as well. The agenda for each meeting is normally included in the monthly update.
Register on the website, drop an email to contact@barnabasvoices.org.uk, or leave us a note at Reception.
We require only your name and email address. We do not have access to any patient data or medical records, nor do we share your contact details with anyone outside the Practice Admin team.
Please note: Barnabas Patient Voices does not provide medical advice and we do not discuss individual cases, unless they are an example of what we believe is a general patient concern. There are formal complaints procedures in place at the Practice, and that is the proper vehicle for personal care concerns. The Practice’s complains procedure can be accessed on the Barnabas Medical Centre website.
Anyone wishing to contact the Medical Centre is referred to the Barnabas Medical Centre website.
