BRCA testing for those with Jewish ancestry

We are reaching out to inform you about an important NHS initiative – the free BRCA testing programme specifically for individuals with Jewish ancestry (at least 1 Jewish grandparent). Early detection of BRCA gene mutations can significantly reduce the risk of certain cancers as preventative action can be taken.

Why get tested?

  • Higher cancer risk: People with BRCA gene mutations have a higher risk of developing cancer (up to 77% increased risk).
  • Statistics:
Ashkenazi Jews: 1 in 40 have a BRCA mutation.
Sephardi Jews: 1 in 140 have a BRCA mutation.
    General population: 1 in 250
  • Prevention: Early testing can save lives by preventing or detecting cancer early.
